  • SuperSibs!:  SuperSibs! is a national nonprofit organization to honor, support and recognize brothers and sisters of children with cancer. Children residing in the United States and Canada and are between the ages of 4 to 18 are offered free services to help bring them comfort and joy during and after such a challenging time in their lives.
  • Center for Creative Play: Center for Creative Play ® is a national leader in the design and development of all inclusive play environments. Since its creation in 1995, CFCP’s mission has expanded to include promoting the importance of play for all children.

  • Centering Corporation: a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and resources for the bereaved.
  • Dougy Center: Education training and peer support groups to give children, teens, young adults and their families who are grieving a death a safe and supportive place to share their stories.
  • Initiative for Pediatric Palliative Care: an educational and quality improvement effort to enhance family-centered care of children with life-threatening conditions. IPPC’s curriculum and video series contain instructional materials organized around six key domains of pediatric palliative care. Curriculum guides and QI tools are available to download for free.

Adolescents

  • Interactive Health Education: Children’s Medical Center of Morristown Memorial Hospital’s interactive health education web site provides teens with answers to all types of medically related questions. Teens can get confidential, direct answers to their specific medically-related questions and also see answers that are posted so they know there are others who share similar issues.
  • PBS Tween Site ― It’s My Life: It’s My Life is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and designed to create safe, engaging, and educational online media for kids aged 9 to 12.
  • Society of Adolescent Medicine (SAM): SAM is a multi disciplinary organization of health professionals who are committed to advancing the health and well-being of adolescents. Through education, research, clinical services, and advocacy activities, members of the Society of Adolescent Medicine strive to enhance public and professional awareness of adolescent health issues among families, educators, policy makers, youth-serving organizations, students who are considering a health career as well as other health professionals.
  • Starbright World: Provided by Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation, an online social network for teens with chronic and life threatening medical conditions, and their siblings. Sick teens are able to connect with other teens that are at home or in the hospital. Users post pictures, chat, post blogs and bulletins and find new friends in similar situations.

Grief/Bereavement

  • Compassionate Friends: The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others be supportive.
  • Draw Together: Draw Together provides a helpful list of papers, articles and handouts related to grief and bereavement.
  • Good Grief Resources: The primary goal of Good Grief Resources is to connect the bereaved and their caregivers with as many bereavement support resources as possible in one, efficient and easy-to-use website directory.
  • Griefworks BC: Grieworks BC exist through a partnership between Children’s and Women’s Health Centers of Britsh Columbia and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice; its mission is to facilitate access to bereavement support when and where it is needed.
  • M.I.S.S. Foundation: The MISS Foudation is a volunteer based organization committed to providing crisis support and long term aid to families after the death of a child from any cause. MISS also participates in legislative and advocacy issues, community engagement and volunteerism, and culturally competent, multidisciplinary, education opportunities.
  • Helping After Neonatal Death, HAND: Helping families cope with the loss of their baby before, during or after birth. Local Resource Libraries containing materials about perinatal death. Twenty-four hour and 365 days a year telephone support. Hospital visitations for parents are also available. In-service Programs for healthcare providers.
